KSNT Reporter Katya Leick tries hard to work on her story in Fort Riley on Tuesday but the cicadas around her cause many complications.

After a 17-year slumber, the sight and sounds of the creepy crawly cicada is back. It has been more than a decade, and these creatures have awakened from their deep beauty sleep.

The last time these noisy bugs were out, Bill Clinton was president, and “Titanic” won the award for best Academy Picture.

It has only been a few weeks, and some can’t wait for the red-eyed bug to take another dirt nap.

Some are happy to see the critters flying around.

Experts say there is no reason to be afraid of them. They don’t harm people, only a few minor damage to branches and as you can see from the video above, they are a pain for some news reporters.
