If you want to quantify the fleet size and squadron structure of nearly every type of US Navy aircraft in service, this graphic is your guide.

The only thing missing from this composite by Contemporary Issues and Geography are the aircraft and squadrons of Naval Air Training Command, test and evaluation units, plus the Blue Angels, Weapon School, and Navy reserve units including aggressor squadrons. So it’s not exactly complete, but it’s still a good overview of what the front line looks like for the US Navy’s air arm.
